On Saturday, July 25, 2026, A-1 Community Housing Services (A-1 CHS) hosted its annual Back-to-School Backpack Drive and Lender Clinic at Chabot College, bringing together community partners to support families throughout Alameda County.

This event reflects A-1 CHS's commitment to strengthening families by supporting children's educational success while empowering parents on their path to homeownership.

Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, donors, volunteers, and lending partners, 72 children received new backpacks filled with school supplies to help them start the school year prepared and ready to succeed.

At the same event, 30 households received one-on-one mortgage guidance from representatives of HSBC, BMO, First Citizens Bank, and City National Bank, helping families better understand homeownership, financing options, credit readiness, and down payment assistance.

Next event is Saturday, July 17, 2027.

Families received personalized guidance on mortgage readiness, credit improvement, down payment assistance, and the steps toward achieving homeownership.
